Get OctoFlow working again

Start with the common fixes below. Most setup, selection, and AI-provider issues come down to permissions, provider configuration, or app-specific text selection behavior.

Why does the toolbar not appear when I select text? +

Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and confirm OctoFlow is enabled. Then quit and reopen OctoFlow. The toolbar only appears when macOS exposes a real text selection.

Why are AI actions unavailable or failing? +

Open Settings → AI Providers and confirm one provider is enabled. If you use Ollama, make sure the Ollama app is running locally and the selected model is installed. For hosted providers, verify your API key and endpoint.

Why does OctoFlow behave differently in some apps? +

Some apps expose text selection and clipboard behavior differently, especially custom Electron, Chromium, or terminal-based editors. If an issue only happens in one app, note the exact app name and version because compatibility fixes are often app-specific.

Where does OctoFlow store local data? +

OctoFlow stores its local database, snippets, and extension data under ~/Library/Application Support/OctoFlow on your Mac.

How do I do a clean reinstall? +

Quit OctoFlow, move the app to Trash, then optionally remove ~/Library/Application Support/OctoFlow before installing the latest build. Reopen the app and grant accessibility permission again if macOS asks.

What details should I gather before asking for help? +

Capture your macOS version, the OctoFlow version from the About page, the exact app where the problem happens, and a short set of reproduction steps. That is usually enough to reproduce selection, clipboard, or provider issues quickly.
